What is the best way to pull anniversaries and what is the best way to celebrate and reward them?

The easiest way to see anniversaries would be to go to the Sell More Now module and go to Ready-to-Buy Customers. The first tab is the Club Anniversaries. You can use the slider to limit it to people who have an anniversary in the next x days (o to 0 would be today). You can then automate these anniversary emails using the 'Send to External System' button next to the date picker.
