Part 3: Filters
Filters in Enolytics let you instantly focus on any segment of your direct-to-consumer (DTC) data. Instead of hunting through multiple modules or reports, apply filters directly from any screen to see only the data that matter. This walkthrough helps tasting room managers, DTC directors, wine club managers, and winery owners quickly answer both routine and advanced questions—no technical skills needed.
Filtering Data from Charts and Dashboards
Step 1: Interact with any chart or data visualization on a dashboard or module.
Click on a chart segment, such as a specific wine club or varietal. A filter for that segment automatically appears in the top filter bar. When you apply the filter, this immediately narrows all dashboard data to just that selection.
The top bar (aka. selection bar) shows the applied filter
Adding and Customizing Filters
Step 2: Click the New button in the filter bar at the top of the screen.
Step 3: Search for and select your filter dimension.
Type the desired filter (e.g., "Gender") in the search box. When "Gender" appears, select it, then pick the value ("Female"). Click Apply (the ✔-button) to activate the filter.
Step 4: Layer additional filters as needed.
Click New again to add more filters. For example, type "state," select "Contact State," and choose "California." Click Apply. You now see data filtered by both gender and state (e.g., Chardonnay sales to female customers in California).
Clearing and Managing Filters
Step 5: To remove filters, use the controls in the selection bar or filter area.
Click the Clear All button to remove every filter or click the x next to an individual filter to remove just that one.
Selecting Filter Values: Short vs. Long Lists
Step 6: For filters with only a few values (e.g., "Channel"), select options directly.
These appear as in the filter value dropdown.
Step 7: For filters with many values (e.g., SKUs or vintages):
After selecting the filter name from the dropdown, in the filter dropdown search bar, type the base name (such as "Chardonnay"). To select all matching values at once, press Enter in the input box, while the cursor is still blinking. Uncheck any values you wish to exclude. Screenshots show the long list before and after pressing Enter.
Filtering By Numeric Ranges
Step 8: Use sliders or histograms for numeric data (e.g., age).
Choose the numeric filter (like "Age"). Use the slider to set your range or click the slider icon for histogram view. Wait for the minimum/maximum values to load, enter your range (e.g., 25 to 45), and click Apply. The screenshots zoom in on the selector and applied filter.
Step 9: View individual values using checkbox mode.
Open the three-dot menu at the top right of the filter bar and choose Change to value selection. The list now shows individual values with checkboxes for precise selection. Screenshots highlight the menu and selected range.
Filtering by Date Ranges
Step 10: Apply filters to cover a range of dates.
Add a filter (e.g., "Birth Date"), use the calendar picker to select your start and end dates (e.g., January 3, 1960 through December 31, 1969), and click Apply. All dates in the range are selected instantly, instead of having to select each one. Screenshots illustrate this process.
Step 11: Review or further refine date selections.
Use the three-dot menu to switch to checkbox view, showing the total number of selected dates. The screenshot highlights the count (over 1200 dates selected within seconds).
Excluding Values from Results
Step 12: Exclude specific values to focus on the rest.
Add a filter (like "Channel"), select a value (such as "Club"), then use the three-dot menu on that filter and select Exclude. This removes the chosen value (e.g., all results except club shipments), and displays a red "NOT" in front of the filter display, ensuring that if new values are added in the future, your analytics remain accurate.
